Nursery Tasks

Welcome to the Summer Holidays!  β˜€οΈ

We have put a collection of fun activities together on our Summer Activity page to keep you busy over the summer. You can also look back to some of the things you have done this year.

Remember to rest! Keep smiling and enjoy time with your family.  We would love to hear how you are doing, but if you do not get a reply straight away, don't worry as we may be trying out '50 things to do in the summer' too.

Have a fabulous summer, see you all in September for new adventures and learning :-)

'Good Days in Unusual Times'.  This link provides a short story and thinking time for you and your child to discuss the different things that are happening at the moment and also to give you some good ideas on what you could do next.  Do not hesitate to contact us at school if you need further support.

We have received some information from the government that has some really lovely ideas in regard to teaching younger children at home.  Please take a look at the link here

Phonics

Good morning :-) I have added another blending video (the video at the bottom) - only watch if your child is familiar with the letter sounds and is beginning to hear sounds.  I have added another task that promotes earlier elements of phonics.  We play lots of silly soup at home... maybe you could make your own at home.  A super well done to this young lady yesterday.  She played 'I Spy' with lots of objects!  Fab!  πŸ˜

Maths

What shapes do you know?  Can you spot shapes in your house? What shape is your window?  Is it a square ⏹ or a ⏺?

Go on a shape hunt to find some shapes... I have then left you a link to a game.  This one talks about patterns.  You may want to make your own pattens with things in your house first.  Let me know how you get on :-)

Starting to school.

We can not wait to see you in September!! This radio station on the BBC website talks about starting school.  Have a listen and talk to your grown ups what you are most excited about school.  (I am excited to meet you all!) There are going to be lots of reminders in September and the grown ups will help you every step of the way. I am really looking forward to see your smiley faces!  We are busy getting your classroom ready and I can promise you that we are going to have lots of fun!

This school is a little different to ours, but when you arrive we will help you with all the things you need to know.  We will talk about where we can go, where the toilets are and all of the things we can play with.

Send me an email with something that you would like to do and I will make sure that in the first week I will get it ready (if I can ;-) )

Remeber to check out our coming back to school guide that was sent through email and double check which door you will be coming to.  If you can not find it let me know and I will send it to you.

Try something different today.... Choose a task

Hello from Mrs Norcup :-)

Click the link to our survey - lots of you have already completed it.  Thank you 😊

Wednesday 15th July

Phonics

The video below shows you the name of each letter and the sound each letter makes.  Do not worry if you do not know them, we will practise them again lots in September!!  Today you could practise writing them on paper if you think you can, or just repeat the rhyme as the lady in the video writes.  I have also added Phonics play at the bottom.  Remember that phonics and reading isnt all about the reading - it is about the hearing sounds in words too!

Play I spy...

I Spy with my little eye something beginning with sssssss..... can you guess?  Yes! It is a spoon!  Although it could have been scissors or a stamp!
Play with someone at home - you could even use your own things from your house.

Maths

We sing a lot of songs in maths, I have put some more below.  Do you know 1,2,3,4,5... once I caught a fish alive! May be you can make your own '10 in the bed' with your toys at home?

Try something different today....

Hello from Mrs Norcup :-)

Can you send me a photograph or a picture you have drawn of your family?

Tuesday 7th July

Phonics

Phonics isnt just about letters - we have to tune into sounds too.  These games on phonics play will help.  Remember the username is March20 Password: home.  Look for Phase 1 Phonics games.

I thought I would add another video for you to try out...

Maths

Grownups... You can find more information about helping out with maths by clicking this link.  Children I have added a video for you today.  The Dog and Cat are both comparing who has more.  Can you decide who has more?  Maybe you could do a similar thing at home.  Using your toys or something else at home can you talk to your family about more and less?

Who has more?

Physical Development
We have been practising lots of gross motor exercises - this is when you exercise your whole body!  Today I would like you to focus on your fine motor skills.  That is practising your finger movements.  If your muscels in your fingers get stronger, holding a pencil or a paint brush will be easier.  You often did 'Dough Disco' at school.  I have added a video to show you how to make your own flour from flour, water and salt (you can also add colouring, glitter and herbs!). What can you make with your playdough?

You could make a pancake, a snail, a pizza or even a worm!  I have also added some pictures to inspire you. You don't need to print these out they are just to give you some ideas.  Please remember to send me some photographs :-)

Hello from Mrs Norcup :-)

Monday 13th July

Phonics

Before we are able to read words we need to be able to blend orally.  That means if I sounded out m-a-n then you could say man.   The video below has a mixture of blending without the grapheme (the letter) and also with the grapheme (the posh word for letter).  These are some of the things we will be doing in September, so thought you would like a practise now.  I have also linked the amazing alphablocks who are sounding out πŸ± πŸ€ πŸ¦‡

We do a lot of singing in maths - it helps us to remember!  Click the picture to listen to '5 Little Speckled Frogs'

Draw or make your own frogs so you can make the frogs jump into the pool and you can see how many are left.

Talking about frogs - I think you would like this story.  It is really good for listening to rhymes - although I do not think that the cat is very polite by using the word oi! What do you think?

Get Active!!

You could try a few videos from Go Noodle or try out may activity underneath.

Friday 10th July

Prepare a healthy lunch... what would you have?  The following pictures may give you an idea... If you were making a healthy lunch box what would you include?  Don't feel you need to print these out - you could just take a photo of your healthy lunch.

With your healthy lunch box, maybe today you could go for a picnic?  Could you walk to a local park with your grown up?  Remember to stay safe and follow the goverment guidance.  If you can not go for a walk, maybe you could try the following activities instead:

Hello from Mrs Norcup :-)

Hello everyone :-).

Today I would like you to draw me a picture of you.  I would love to have them on display for you to see in September.  So get your pencils out and any kind of paper and draw me your best picture of you.  Parents I would really like their own work - don't worry if all the normal parts of the body are not there!  It is part of the learning process. :-).  So if you get a picture that looks like scribble to us, just ask them what part of their body is there and you could annotate it to show me.

Please send your photographs of your work to me on my usual email address and I will get them printed off and add them to the wall to sit by your photograph.

You can use anything to make your pictures, pens, pencils, crayons, chalk outside.  What every you have.

different numberblocks and find out more about them.

Hello from Mrs Norcup :-)

Over the next two weeks I will be asking you to complete certain things for me to help me to make some displays in our classroom.  It would be great if everyone could get involved and then in September you will already have some things on the wall.

Some of you have already sent some things - if you have that is great! Thank you 😊

Today could you please send me a photograph of you - maybe with your favourite toy?  I am then going to print it off and add it to our board in school.  Can you also write your name and take a photograph of that too.  Don't worry if your name doesn't yet look right - just do what you can and then we can practise next year.

I wonder if I could set you a challnege... It would be terrific if you could get involved too... could you video your favourite story and then send it to me?

Try out some counting today - can you recognise the amounts and match to the numbers?  I have popped the numicon on to help you:

Experiment and see if you can make your own stars:  instead of the glow in the dark stars you could use some silver foil :-)

Could you find some props around your house to retell the story of 'Whatever Next?'  If you get really good at it you could video it for us and send it to Mrs Norcup or Mrs Hall :-)

Look at one of our friends - She has been saying "Alexa play Nursery Rhymes". What have you been up to?  Let us know by emailing your pictures or videos :-)

Lots of learning from one of our friends and all in a princess dress!  Perfect!  Thank you for sending :-)

What's the Time?  Is it breakfast time, lunch time, play time?  Things are very different at the moment and it is important that there is still a routine.  Talk to your grown up about what you do during the day.  What do you do at bedtime?  Do you have a story, do you listen to music, do you have a bath?  If you find it tricky to sleep at night could you try something a little different?

Mr Bear could not sleep... I wonder if a song would have helped?  Can you make a nice relaxing song for Mr Bear?  What will you use to make a lullaby?  Send me your videos and pictures so I can share your super ideas.

Can you try this?

Reach for your favourite toys and get counting, how many cars or dolls do you have?  Can you put them in order? Can you reach 10? Maybe you could make some signs for each one. 1, 2, 3, 4....

Look at the pictures from the story.  Talk to a grown up about what you can see. Can you remember the noises that were made in each area?  Was it a tick tock or a drip drip?  What would you do if you could not sleep?

Poor Mr Bear could not sleep because of all the noises in his house.  What noises can you find in your house?  May be you could take a video of them and send them to me.  I could put all the videos together and see if we all have different sounds or the same.  Does everything that makes a noise have a plug?

Using a potato and some paint I wonder if you could make your own bear?  What shapes have you used? If you do not have paint maybe you could use paper and scissors to make a picture of a bear.
