What is Safer Internet Day?

Safer Internet Day is an event, organised by the UK Safer Internet Centre, which aims to promote safe, responsible and positive use of internet technology.

It involves lots of local and national organisations coming together to raise awareness of correct internet practices. They look at lots of topics including consent, ownership and data privacy, and it runs with the slogan, ‘Together for a better internet’. They also raise issues about cyberbullying, digital identity and social networks.

The main goal of Safer Internet Day is to raise awareness and start a conversation about internet safety. One company cannot make the internet wholly safe, but lots of people working together can have a big impact. Its aim is to make a safer and better internet for everyone, especially children and young people.

We are also raising some money for the charity Leukaemia Care who helps lots of poorly people too. You can make a donation (if you are able to) on Parent Pay under the heading ‘World Cancer Day’. Please bring something that makes you SMILE to our Teams meeting this morning – it can be anything you like

One type of cancer is called leukaemia. We celebrated ‘Spot Leukaemia’ in September by dressing in our spotty clothes! Can you remember what leukaemia is?

What do Leukaemia Care do?

Can you make a poster about Leukaemia Care and how they help people who are poorly? Or could you make a poster highlighting some symptoms to look out for? Visit www.leukaemiacare.org.uk to find out more information about the charity.

If you are feeling poorly, sometimes you feel a bit sad. It’s great when your friends and family make you feel happy again! What do they do to make you smile?

Draw a picture of the things you could do to make someone who is poorly smile. Maybe you could make a ‘card’ to send to someone who might feel poorly at the moment, and that might make them smile too

Sometimes we need our mind’s to feel happy and healthy as well as our bodies! Can you practise your rainbow breath to focus on your body and mind?
