Armistice Day, 11th November 2018, marks the centenary of the end of conflict, since the First World War.
To honour the bravery of those who fought, lived and died in the First World War, Crackley Bank Primary School would like to support the ‘There But Not There’ charity.
The three aims of the charity are to: Commemorate, Educate and Heal.
Commemorate through installations of silhouettes wherever there is a Roll of Honour.
Educate all generations, particularly today’s younger generation, born nearly 100 years after the outbreak of WW1, to understand what led to the deaths of 888,246 British and Commonwealth service personnel.
Heal today’s veterans who are suffering from the mental and physical wounds of their service by raising substantial funds through sales of Tommy silhouettes.
To support the charity in the amazing work they do, we would like to purchase a ‘Tommy’ silhouette for the school grounds. The silhouette is six feet tall and would take a prominent position in our reflection area, helping us to support the pupils’ knowledge and understanding of British Values.
We need your help! Please could you help us to purchase our own ‘Tommy’ by making a contribution towards the total cost?
Donations of £3.50 per pupil would allow us to make this amazing and thought-provoking addition to our school grounds.
We would like our ‘Tommy’ to be in place for Armistice Day, therefore could we kindly ask that donations are made using parent pay on or before Friday 19th October 2018.
