World Book Day will take place on Thursday 7th March 2019
Our theme for this year from Nursery through to Y6 is ‘Storytime in Slippers/Fancy Socks’. We will follow a similar format to last year’s event; the children will have the opportunity to share their favourite: book, story or poem with their peers. Throughout the day, the children will be taking part in lots of exciting activities including: writing about their favourite book and author quizzes, competitions, creative activities and drama. In the afternoon, classes will be pairing up to share some of their favourite texts. At the end of the day the children will return to their classroom and have ‘Storytime in Slippers/Fancy Socks’.
The children can either bring their favourite book to school or share a text they have been reading in school. We would also like the children to bring their slippers or a pair of fancy socks to change into for our ‘Storytime’.
As always, World Book Day helps to promote the joy and value of books and reading. To help get the children started on their reading journey, every child receives a £1 World Book Day Book Token that can either be exchanged for one of TEN special £1 World Book Day books or used to get £1 off any book costing £2.99 or more. Your child’s token can be redeemed at most UK bookshops.
