We call it the Crackley Bank Bank, and it works as follows.
Everytime a child attends school for a full week they are awarded 1 CRACKLEYPOUND. If their parent or carer attends a parent workshop or the school open evening, the child is awarded 3 CRACKLEY POUNDS.
These can then be redeemed against a list of school-related items such as Uniform, PE Kit and Trips.
We offer parent workshops to cover the whole age range, so there is something of interest for everyone. Sessions to date have included Numeracy, Talk for Writing,World Book Day, key stage 2 SATs, PE, Gardening, singing, science and Early Yearsreading.
Parents tell us they welcome the initiative, as it encourages them to become better informed about what we are doing in school and enables their child to take part in activities that might otherwise be beyond the family budget.
Their positivity is also reflected by the fact that one of their first requests was for longer sessions, which have now been extended from an hour to an hour and a half. We have also used their workshop evaluation forms to plan future workshops on topics they specifically wanted to explore.
