Click on the link below, then watch the video and read the information about how to prevent food waste.

Have a go at the activity below:

Make yourself a food waste diary like the one below.  Get everyone in your house involved in thinking about what food would normally be thrown in the bin and what you could do with it instead.  You could go on the internet and look up ‘leftovers recipes’ or set up a compost bin in the garden.   Remember to fill in your ‘Waste-busting ideas’ as well by thinking about how to prevent food from being wasted in the first place; such as making a shopping list and storing food correctly.

Don’t forget to email your food waste diaries to your teacher.

Have fun!

World Cancer Day

Today is ‘World Cancer Day’. We are thinking about people who might be very poorly, and how we could help them and make them smile. We are also raising some money for the charity Leukaemia Care who helps lots of poorly people too. You can make a donation (if you are able to) on Parent Pay under the heading ‘World Cancer Day’. Please bring something that makes you SMILE to our Teams meeting this morning or this afternoon – it can be anything you like J

One type of cancer is called leukaemia. We celebrated ‘Spot Leukaemia’ in September by dressing in our spotty clothes! Can you remember what leukaemia is?

Can anyone remember how we spot leukaemia? What symptoms might you have? Look at the list below…

What do Leukaemia Care do?

Choose one or more of the following activities to complete:

Can you make a poster about Leukaemia Care and how they help people who are poorly?

Or could you make a poster highlighting some symptoms to look out for?

Visit www.leukaemiacare.org.uk to find out more information about the charity.

If you are feeling poorly, sometimes you feel a bit sad. It’s great when your friends and family make you feel happy again! What do they do to make you smile? Draw a picture of the things you could do to make someone who is poorly smile.

Maybe you could make a ‘card’ to send to someone who might feel poorly at the moment, and that might make them smile too J

Sometimes we need our mind’s to feel happy and healthy as well as our bodies! Can you practise your rainbow breath to focus on your body and mind?

Click on the link below to have fun learning your times tables.

Remember to go onto My Maths on the link below. I have set some short division and times table practice tasks for this week.

English: Today you are going to read through your story first to check spelling and punctuation. Then you are going to write an exciting ending, telling the reader how the problem is solved and what happens to your characters.

Word mats and text examples to support your writing, along with lined paper are in your pack. You are going to use your ideas from last week to help you to write a new story.

Story endings:

A good ending should not be the type of ending that you have heard a million times before. ‘They all lived happily ever after’ should be for children’s fairy tales ONLY. (And whatever you do don’t end with …’and they all went home.’ OR ‘I woke up. It had all been a dream.’)

Try some of these more interesting ways to end a story.

Ready for a sequel

At the end of their long journey they sat down, at last, around the open fire of the camp where it had all begun. They sighed and told each other that their travelling days were over. But were they?

Unexpected/Shock endings

At last they were free from the evil that had been following them for so long. The sky was blue, the sun shone and the birds sang in the trees. Tom walked across the field whistling and sometimes singing to himself. He hardly had a care in the world as the sun beat down upon him. However, he failed to see the large figure of a dragon looming behind him!

What people have learnt

Tom was relieved that the week was finally over. At last he could go back home and lead a normal life. He had certainly learnt a lot over the past week. Most importantly, next time Flora suggested they go away on an adventure he would definitely say NO! Or would he?
